Oak Harbor dominates for third straight win, 42-7

The annual rivalry between the Rockets and the Redskins turned into a romp for host Oak Harbor on Friday night, as they scored early and often to run up a 35-0 halftime lead and coast to a 42-7 victory over visiting Port Clinton.

Carson Ridener put points on the board first, rushing for a four-yard touchdown. He had a fine night, piling up 56 yards with 12 carries. In the second quarter Jaqui Hayward stunned Port Clinton with a 70-yard punt return for a touchdown just before the opening quarter ended.

Hayward and quarterback Michael Lalonde connected on a 77-yard touchdown pass, as Hayward totaled more than 200 all-purpose yards before halftime. To keep the scoring rolling right along, Dalton Ritter had a four-year-touchdown run, and tight end Garry Brooks caught a 13-yard touchdown pass.

Oak Harbor will look for its third straight win against visiting Maumee on Friday, while Port Clinton (2-1) will try to get back on track against Liberty Benton.

Genoa rallies to edge Huron, 21-20

The Genoa Comets running game finally got going in the second half of its game against host Huron Tigers on Friday, erasing a 20-point lead and taking home a 21-20 victory. In a lopsided second half, the Comets turned to its ground game to do all of the damage, relying on Aidan Antry’s 110 yards rushing on 28 carries. Antry tied the game on a 2-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, and Genoa successfully kicked the extra point for the win.

A display of Genoa’s second half domination had the Comets running 40 plays to just 12 for Huron.
