The Firelands Symphony Orchestra (FSO) has released its introductory episode for its new virtual music education series for adults titled Miss Jody’s Monday Music Minutes. The series will continue with a new episode every Monday through Mar. 8 on the FSO’s website at FirelandsSymphony.com/MondayMusicMinutes, the FSO’s Facebook page at Facebook.com/FirelandsSymphony and the FSO YouTube playlist at bit.ly/YoutubeMJMMM.
For those who love music but think written sheet music is a bunch of hieroglyphics, this new series by Jody Chaffee (aka Miss Jody) is geared for the adult music enthusiast. As FSO’s principal piccolo and flute II musician and director of the FSO’s long-standing music education outreach programs with area schools, Miss Jody will use her
knowledge and creativity to introduce basic music tidbits to broaden our understanding of written music.
Monday Music Minutes is one of three Winter Blues Busters planned by the FSO to help its audiences get through the cold winter months. Details for two additional series to begin in January will be announced soon, which include interactive 6-week Zoom sessions with Maestro Carl Topilow and Chorale Director Michael Shirtz, “Conversations with Carl: A Personal Tour of His Orchestral Conductors’ Career Handbook,” and “Celebrate Brubeck’s Centennial with FSO’s Michael Shirtz,” respectively.
