Genoa girls create winning posters for the Healthy Forests contest

Adrianna Williams, right, and Alyssa Herman created the winning posters in the Soil and Water Conservation District Port Contest.

The Ottawa Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) has selected a pair of Genoa School District seventh graders as winners of the Ottawa County Healthy Forests = Healthy Communities poster contest.

Adrianna Williams placed first and Alyssa Herman was second. Both girls are excited to be featured on Ottawa SWCD’s social media posts and have their posters made into placemats for the SWCD Annual Banquet in September. Two winners from Ohio will be entered in the National Competition.

The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) and the NACD Auxiliary sponsor the 2021 poster contest. This year’s theme is Healthy Forests = Healthy Communities. Trees and forests are critical to providing clean air and water, healthy soil, abundant wildlife habitat, and valuable products we use every day. It is important that each of us does our part to care for trees.
