A pair of school funding issues for the Genoa Area School District and the Woodmore School District are the only issues being considered in the Tuesday, May 4 special election in Ottawa County.
Genoa is seeking a 5.9 mill levy for five years for current expenses. Woodmore is substituting its existing levies for a 6.4 mill levy over 10 years. The election is considered a special election, rather than a primary election, because there are no contested candidates on the ballot.
Early voting remains open at the Ottawa County Board of Elections on Thursday and Friday, April 29-30; Saturday, May 1, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; Sunday, May 2 from 1-5 p.m.; and Monday, May 3 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
On Tuesday, May 4, voting will be at the polls: St. John Lutheran Church, Williston and the American Legion Post 279, Elmore; Genoa Fire Station and Clay Township Hall, Genoa. Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
