George “Butch” Earl Witter, 81, of Port Clinton, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky. He was born on Jan. 18, 1942 in Lacarne, the son of the late George and Bertha (Leach) Walls.
George was a truck driver until his retirement, and enjoyed doing carpentry work. He loved playing BINGO, taking care of his cats, watching sports, especially the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Browns, and going to lunch/dinner at Frisch’s Big Boy.
Survivors include his daughter, Georgia Holmes; son, James (Robin) Witter; grandchildren, Kenny Holmes, Jr., Brandon Holmes, Natasha (Jason Fleenor) Witter, and Nicole (Jon) Marvicsin; great-grandchildren, Bristol, Braxton, Jaelyn, Isabella, Jacob, Logan, and Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia; sister, Edith Dietzel; and son-in-law, Kenneth Holmes, Sr.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, at the Gerner-Wolf Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 7, in the funeral home. Interment will take place in LaCarpe Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Island Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary.
