A great way to get into the holiday spirit is to sign up to decorate a tree for the Gift of Lights at Adams Street Park in downtown Port Clinton. It requires a $35 donation, and people can bet a buck that a tree is their favorite. Proceeds go to a charity selected by last year’s winner.
Businesses and organizations are encouraged to participate in the 2019 Gift of Lights, where they will decorate a holiday tree for charity. Businesses and organizations may purchase a tree for a $35 donation (please make checks payable to the Port Clinton Rec Department).
The trees will be located at Adams Street Park in downtown historic Port Clinton. People will vote for their favorite or best-decorated tree for a dollar donation to determine this year’s winner. Proceeds will be donated to the 2018 winner’s charity of choice.
The trees will be decorated beginning on Friday, Nov. 22. All trees should be completed by Friday, Nov. 29. Voting begins on Saturday, Nov. 30, which is Small Business Saturday in Port Clinton.
Ballot boxes will be available at the Main Street PC/Chamber of Commerce office, City Hall, Coffee Express, Lilly & Gerts, Slater’s Madison Street Pub and the Ala Carte Cafe. The deadline to vote is Friday, Dec. 13 at 12 Noon. Businesses and organizations should remove their decorations the week of Jan. 1.
If you are interested in decorating a tree, contact Main Street Port Clinton at 419-734-5503. Make checks payable to the Port Clinton Recreation Department.
