Local businesses and organizations can participate in the 2020 Gift of Lights again this year at Adams Street Park in downtown Port Clinton, and decorate one of the many Christmas trees there to win funds for their favorite charity.

A $35 donation will “purchase” a tree, and its new owners can begin decorating it for the holidays this week. If you are interested in decorating a tree, contact Main Street Port Clinton at 419-734-5503. Make checks payable to the Port Clinton Parks & Recreation Department.

All trees should be completed by Friday, Dec. 4, with voting to begin Saturday, Dec. 5.

People can vote for their favorite or best-decorated tree for a dollar per vote. Ballot boxes will be available at the various Port Clinton locations: Port Clinton Chamber of Commerce; Coffee Express, Lilly & Gerts, Slater’s Madison Street Pub and Ala Carte Café.

The deadline to vote is Friday, Dec. 18 at Noon. The “votes” will be donated to the winner’s charity of choice and the amount of donations will determine this year’s winner.
