Danbury routs Calvert to get to 15 wins

DANBURY TWP. — Danbury took an early lead and broke the game open in the second half of its 48-25 victory over Tiffin Calvert. The Lakers (15-6, 10-6 Sandusky Bay Conference River Division) led 10-7 after the first quarter and 19-9 at halftime and 29-19 after three quarters before outscoring the Senecas, 19-6, in the fourth.

Maria Maringer had a game-high 15 points and Kamil Stephens scored 12.

Frannie Webb had nine points to lead Calvert.

Danbury 51, St. Joseph CC 47

FREMONT — Danbury had to fend off a late rally by St. Joseph Central Catholic and held on for a 51-47 victory. The Lakers led 42-30 after three quarters, but the Crimson Streaks outscored them, 17-9, in the fourth.

Kamil Stephens had 19 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead all scorers and Maria Maringer scored 13.

Ryan Smith led SJCC with 15 points and Paige Drusback finished with 11.

Huron 50, Oak Harbor 38

OAK HARBOR — Huron outscored Oak Harbor by 12 points in the middle two quarters to take control in its 50-38 win over the Rockets.

With the Rockets (7-14, 3-6 Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division) leading 9-7 after the first quarter, the Tigers (15-5, 8-2) rallied to take a 23-16 lead at halftime and never looked back.

Mia Hurst led Huron with 12 points and Ava Winnestaffer scored 11 points.

Ryann Steinbrick had a game-high 16 points to pace Oak Harbor.

Margaretta 75, Oak Harbor 30

CASTALIA — Margaretta jumped out to a 21-point lead after one quarter and improved to 15-7 with a 75-30 win over Oak Harbor.

Kylie Leibacher led the Polar Bears with 17 points and crossed the 1,000 point plateau in the victory.

Margaretta, which finishes the season with a perfect 10-0 mark in the Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division, led 30-9 after the first quarter and 45-21 at halftime.

The Rockets’ Ryann Steinbrick had a game-high 20 points, including four 3-pointers.

The Rockets will travel to Willard to play Mansfield Senior in a Division II sectional final on Thursday.

Port Clinton 50, Edison 35

PORT CLINTON — Port Clinton got 30 points from Da’Cariya Lanier and defeated Edison, 50-35.

The Redskin defense held the Chargers (7-15, 2-8 Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division) to single digits in the first three quarters as they built their lead.

Port Clinton (8-12, 5-5) led 10-7 after the first quarter and 28-16 at halftime.

Kalli Quillen had 14 points to lead Edison.

Norwalk 55, Port Clinton 32

NORWALK — Norwalk jumped out to an early lead and steadily built its advantage in the second half to defeat Port Clinton, 55-32.

The Truckers led 18-5 after the first quarter and 28-15 at halftime. Norwalk outscored the Redskins 27-17 in the second half.

Brooklyn Davis had a game-high 22 points for the Truckers.

Da’Cariya Lanier scored 20 points to lead Port Clinton.
