Giving Tree at Bassett’s goes to the dogs!

The Humane Society of Ottawa County has placed a Giving Tree in the Bassett’s Markets locations Port Clinton at 3994 East Harbor Rd. and 1608 E. Perry St. to help everyone provide holiday donations to the Humane Society.

The six-foot Christmas trees are decorated with paper ornaments, each with a tag suggesting a much-needed item for the shelter. Shoppers can take an ornament off the tree, purchase the item listed and return it to the store. A box is provided with the tree for these donations. Items most needed include dog and cat food, cleaning supplies, collars, office supplies, pet toys and gas cards.

Some ornaments list monetary donations to pay for a dog or cat to be spayed and neutered, veterinary tests, vaccinations or adoption fees. These monetary donations can be mailed to the Humane Society using a self- addressed envelope attached to the ornament.
