Holly Henn of Elmore has brought elegant camping to Northwest Ohio.
Henn launched Glamptopia, a mobile glamping business, in September 2022. Glamping – or glamorous camping – dresses up the outdoor experience with a little grace and glitter.
The Glamptopia experience features waterproof, 16-foot-diameter, canvas tents set up in the customer’s backyard or at a public venue such as East Harbor State Park or Maumee Bay State Park.
“We bring it to wherever you’re at,” Henn said. “I think people who don’t normally camp are more likely to try it in their backyard because it’s easier.”
Seasoned tent campers will also enjoy the glamping experience, which includes a queen bed with a memory foam mattress, bedside tables, candles, decorative pillows, rugs, indoor lights and outdoor fairy lights. Customers can choose from a number of different packages including the Date Night, Slumber Party, Family Fun and Glamp Lounge packages. Add-on options include a movie projector and screen, giant board games, a fire pit and a camping stove.
“For Date Nights, I decorate with pretty flowers, and they can add on a decorated table inside the tent. Some people use it for a picnic table outside,” Henn said.
Henn’s most frequent customers request tents for kids’ birthday parties.
“I do a full tent setup with six to eight sleeping positions and themed bedding,” she said.
Glamptopia hosts glamping events for all ages, from multi-tent retreats for corporate events or group camping to small, intimate glamping outings.
“There was an older couple who used to tent camp a lot and hadn’t done it in years. Their kids bought them the Date Night package,” Henn said.
Glamptopia recently partnered with Oakwood Lane Weddings, an outdoor wedding venue in Williston. Glamptopia can provide a bridal suite tent and tents to be utilized as shaded retreats for family members and the wedding party.
Henn was inspired to launch her business by her own passion for camping.
“I love camping. I’ve always loved camping. I’ve always been a tent camper and loved the outdoors,” she said. “I have three daughters, and I thought this would be fun to do with them and a great way to help pay for college. I thought it would be a great small business. We could do it together and send money off to school.”
Glamptopia serves Ottawa, Sandusky, Erie, Huron, Lucas, Wood, Hancock, Seneca and Fulton counties. For more information, visit www.glamp-topia.com or call 567-280-0483.
