After 46 years service as the face of Bay Point Resort and Marina in a variety of positions, General Manager John Paul Dress will be retiring this week.
From a college kid working summers at the Bay Point Gate House to becoming general manager in 2017, Dress has helped the Bay Point Resort grow from a collection of cottages and a small marina to the expansive, luxury marina and campground that is now the largest in Ottawa County.
Over the years, Dress has worked in maintenance, and as marina manager and operations manager. He was named assistant general manager in January 2016 and general manager in 2017.
The Bay Point Resort now features a swimming pool, lakefront restaurant, a market and a housing development, all with beautiful views of Sandusky Bay and Lake Erie.
Dress has been an active member of the Marblehead Peninsula community, serving as president and a board member of the Danbury School Board for 12 years, and a member of the Danbury Township Zoning Board. He is currently serving as a Danbury Township Trustee since November 2017.
Dress is a member of the Marblehead Lion’s Club, St. John Lutheran Church, a mentor for Danbury Schools and is a member of the Citizens Advisory Board at Riverview Healthcare.
