Gwendolyn F. “Sis” Apling, 99 of Oak Harbor, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Riverview Health Care Campus, Oak Harbor. She was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Carroll Township, to the late John and Vonda (Flaharty) Nietfeld. She married Ervin Apling who preceded her in death in 2011. Sis would be remembered as a sales clerk for Hasselbach Meats, where she worked for many years. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou (Michael) Stolz; son, Robert (Kathy) Apling; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great- grandchildren, all of who she loved dearly. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, William and J.C. Nietfeld, and daughter, Sue Jones.

Private Graveside Services will be held in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, under the direction of the Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor Chapel.
