Mike Cahill, a former local renovations expert, hosted a ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 15 celebrating the completion of the first phase of the restoration of “Handless Jacques,” the large statue that has drawn the eyes and hearts of passersby in Marblehead for about 50 years.
Over the past several months, Cahill led a group of volunteers who restored the aging statue, which once stood outside a sandwich shop in Marion, Ohio. “Handless Jacques” twin statue, which stood at a Mansfield, Ohio shop, was simultaneously restored and transformed into a bobblehead by Terry Byrne. During the ceremony, Cahill announced that he and Byrne now hold records for the world’s tallest repurposed, restored twin statue and the world’s tallest bobblehead.
