Harold “Zeke” Zura, of Sandusky, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at home. He was born on Oct. 28, 1934 in Marblehead, son of William “Zeke” and Mary (Krynock) Zura. He married Joyce Gresh on Nov. 4, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church by Father August J. Schaefer.

He attended Lakeside High School. A native of Marblehead, he and his wife moved to Sandusky in 2006 to be closer to family. He retired from Bell Heating & Electric in 1996 after 30 years of service.

He was a member of the Marblehead Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years, the last 13 years as Chief. He enjoyed serving his community helping people and was very dedicated to his job. He was also Past Grand Knight of Marblehead Council #4218 of the Knights of Columbus and a current member of Port Clinton Council #1750. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Marblehead.

He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren when they were growing up and taking them on mystery trips and attending all of their school activities. He loved the “old” country music and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce; children, Patty (Ray) Oeder, Rick (Carol) Zura, and Russ (Peggy) Zura, Sr.; grandchildren, Russell (Jody) Zura, Jr., Kimberly Zura, Kristen Oeder and Kyla Oeder; step-grandchildren, Jason, Derek, Garrett, Brandon, Troy;  many nieces and nephews; special family, Tony and Cindy Chapman; sister, Mary Ann Glovinsky of Marblehead; and brother, Kenneth (Penny) Zura of Catawba.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Donna, his brother in-law, Joe Stayancho, and his brother in-law, Paul Glovinsky.

Cremation has taken place. Family and friends were be received on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019 at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead. Funeral Services were held at the Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 28, with Father Robert Kelly officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Cemetery in Marblehead.
