Celebrate Presidents’ Day by touring the museum and home of 19th U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes for free and take a paid sleigh ride through the president’s estate on Monday, Feb. 15.

The Hayes Presidential Library & Museums is offering free admission to the museum and Hayes Home. To tour the museum, participants can reserve either the morning time slot of 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or afternoon slot of 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

They can take a self-guided tour of the museum at any point during the time slot they choose. Attendance will be capped in order to maintain proper physical distancing.

Museum reservations are strongly recommended and can be made at rbhayes.org. To reserve one of the museum time slots, visit rbhayes.org/events/2021/02/15/events/presidents-day-celebration/.

Visitors can reserve a Hayes Home tour on a first-come, first-served basis when they arrive that day. Tour sizes remain reduced for safety reasons. No advance reservations are being taken for home tours.

There will be kids’ activities and an artifacts display in the museum auditorium.

The research library will be closed for the holiday.

The Presidents’ Day Celebration is sponsored by the Knight-Baldwin Charitable Foundation.

From noon to 5 p.m., South Creek Clydesdales will offer horse-drawn sleigh rides through Spiegel Grove. Up to four people in one household group can fit in the sleigh, and rides are limited to one household group at a time.

Cost is $5.50 per person ages 3 and older and free for ages 2 and younger. Rides last about 10 minutes. Riders must wear a face-covering. Rides will take place whether or not there is snow. In the event of negative wind chills or thunderstorms, rides could be canceled. Updates will be posted at rbhayes.org. If the rides are canceled due to weather, refunds will be given. Tickets also will be sold at the front desk the day of the event, pending availability. To purchase tickets online, visit www.rbhayes.org/events/2021/02/15/events/presidents-day-celebration/.
