Health Commissioner wants Covid-19 test site for PIB; Ferry masks a must

Jul 8, 2020 | Featured | 0 comments

After a number of positive Covid-19 cases were reported from Put-in-Bay recently, Health Commissioner Jerry Bingham of the Ottawa County Health Department is working to establish a baseline test site for island businesses.

Bingham has requested Put-in-Bay businesses quickly provide information on all employees on the island. The OCHD should be notified if any employees are currently symptomatic and that they should get tested at Magruder Hospital. The health department said it is working as fast as it can to coordinate the testing on Put-in-Bay.

The Miller Ferries and Jet Express have both announced they will implement mandatory passenger masks aboard all of their vessels. Miller Ferry Line Owner Billy Market has reduced capacity on his ferries to maintain social distancing.

A combination of high water and the Covid-19 pandemic has caused the Port Clinton-based Jet Express to close its Kelleys Island, Cedar Point and Sandusky docks in Erie County for 2020.
