
The wild and crazy Pyrate Festival costumes worn by locals and visitors alike are a big attraction on Friday through Sunday, June 25-27.
Put-in-Bay’s annual Pyrate Fest will see the return of the Pyrate King for three days to find his stolen treasure on Friday through Sunday, June 25-27. It’s a great time to dress in pirate garb, enjoy the canon blasts and parades and visit the exhibits and activities in DeRivera Park in the downtown harbor area.
On Friday evening authentic Pyrates invade the downtown Put-in-Bay harbor to hoist the Pirate Flag and search and recover the stolen treasure. This family-friendly event re-enacts history with cannon firing demonstrations, parades, educational events and is a free event. Just sit back and watch the skullduggery!
For over a decade Pyrate Fest participants invade Put-in-Bay’s downtown harbor on Friday at 4 p.m. to open the Put-in-Bay Pyrate Fest. Grab your wooden leg, eyepatch, and your pet parrot, because you’re going to need them.
Saturday will be an exciting day for kids and adults full of fun activities. Make sure you don’t miss the Pyrate Parade downtown and the Best Pyrate Costume Contest this side of Lake Erie. Adults and children are both encouraged to participate on the hot Put-in-Bay summer weekend. Additionally, the best adult pirate costume wins a trip to the Cayman Islands. It sounds like a challenge to us!
The Pyrate marketplace and display will be set up in DeRivera Park and will also be host to a kid’s fun fest. Throughout the day there will be black powder firing demonstrations. The annual Pyrate Bar Crawl will start at 5 p.m. for the adult Pyrate Fest participants only!.The Bar Crawl would not be complete without a stop at the Blue Marlin Bar & Grill at the Put-in-Bay Resort to meet Captain Morgan himself!
Tuesday evening will officially conclude the event with the infamous Cardboard Boat Races at 6 p.m. in the downtown harbor. You’ll be sure to have a good time participating in Pyrate Fest-themed events throughout the festival. Watch as scurvy bearded pirates demonstrate sword fighting techniques, and the art of skulduggery. Kids will have the chance to practice with foam swords also!
