PORT CLINTON – The Humane Society of Ottawa County has made it easy to donate to their shelter this holiday season by placing Giving Trees in two local locations: Bassett’s Market at 3994 East Harbor Rd., Port Clinton and Miller’s New Market at 22361 West Holt Harrigan Rd., Genoa.

These six-foot Christmas trees have paper ornaments printed with items needed at the Humane Society. Shoppers take an ornament off the tree, purchase the item listed, and return the item to the store. A box is provided with the tree for these donations. Items needed include dog and cat food, paper towels, pet toys, and gas cards.

Some ornaments list monetary donations to pay for a dog or cat spay/neuter, veterinary tests, vaccinations, or adoption sponsorship fees. These monetary donations can be mailed to the Humane Society using the self-addressed envelope attached to the ornament.
