The Lonz Winery area on Middle Bass Island has become a popular spot for visitors.

The Lonz mansion is undergoing a major facelift that will see the installation of 21st century amenities while maintaining the integrity of its original 1930’s design, according to Ohio Department of Natural Resources spokesman Andy Chow.

“The mansion will become an homage to that era with historical displays on the first floor. It will also give guests the opportunity to stay overnight in rooms that will make them feel they’ve been transported to the 30’s,” said Chow.

Renovations are expected to be completed by 2026.

The Lonz Winery area has become a popular spot for visitors. The Press House, a coffee house and wine bar, is now on the property that’s home to Island Grind and Prohibition. The Island Grind serves coffee and sandwiches while Prohibition serves alcoholic beverages.

Visitors can enjoy their food and drinks while taking in the view off the south coast of Middle Bass Island. The park boasts a serene boating destination with 184 marina slips and 10 campsites.
