Port Clinton High School announced that earning its Senior Spotlights for November are basketball star Da’Cariya “DC” Lanier and cross country and swimming standout Kaylie Simpson.
Da’Cariya Lanier may be best known for her success on the Port Clinton Girls Basketball Court, however, this talented student has also been a four-year member of the school’s A Cappella ensemble, Touch of Class. She has numerous basketball honors, including being part of the Port Clinton 1,000 Point Club, and holds several school records some of which include Three Point Shots (51), and Average Points per Game (18.5).
Da’Cariya has been selected to the District VI first team, Sandusky Bay Conference first team, Northwest Ohio 2nd team, News Messenger 1st team, Spy All Star, and All Blade Team.
This past summer she traveled to Australia as part of ACIS America’s Basketball Team.
The daughter of Latoya Pearson and Demetrius Brown, next year Da’Cariya will continue her education and basketball career at Sienna Heights University majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology.
Kaylie Simpson has been active in many extracurricular opportunities at Port Clinton High School. She is captain of the Envirothon Team, and a member of Leadership Council, International Club and National Honor Society.
Kaylie is a four-year member of the Port Clinton Cross Country, Swimming and Track teams. She has been a regional qualifier for Cross Country and part of the Sandusky Bay Conference Championship Girls Swimming and Diving Teams.
Outside of school, Kaylie has been a 4-H Camp Counselor at Kelleys Island and an Ohio Division of Natural Resources Student Ambassador. With her interest in natural resources, she also volunteers at a local marsh conservatory. The daughter of John and Becky Simpson,
Kaylie plans to continue her education next year with a major related to Environmental Science.
