The Humane Society of Ottawa County is seeking donations of homemade crafts for an upcoming fundraiser. Fall seasonal items and pet-related items would be appreciated.
Donated items can be dropped off at theHumane Shelter, 2424 E. Sand Rd., Port Clinton, on Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m.-3 pm , Wednesday and Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Donations can be dropped off now through Wednesday, Sept. 21. The Humane Society of Ottawa County is holding its last dog wash of the season on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 10 a.m. to noon at Bayside Comfort, 280 S. Bridge Rd., Lakeside-Marblehead. This is next to the Bark Until Dark Dog Park, Danbury Township’s off leash dog park on State Route 269.
Cost for the dog wash is $10 or $15 for two dogs. All proceeds benefit the Humane Society. If you have any questions, contact the shelter at 419-734-5191.
The annual Catawba Peach and Wine Festival at Schwan Orchard on Catawba Island on Saturday, Aug. 3 was a huge success. Crowds filled the orchard for live music by area musicians, and wine tasting and sales by Firelands Winery. Perch, walleye, and bratwurst dinners were featured while visitors enjoyed yard games, door prizes and fun outdoor competitions while supporting the Humane Society of Ottawa County.
