The students of Immaculate Conception School enjoyed a visit by the Port Clinton Fire Department personnel recently, had the chance to get up close looks at firefighting gear and take a seat in a fully-equipped EMT vehicle.

The men and women of the fire department were gracious in sharing their equipment, trucks, and their knowledge of fire safety with students and staff, said ICS officials. The children learned about smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and got to see equipment the fireman wears and the tools he or she uses.

Students at Immaculate Conception School enjoyed the chance to sit in a Port Clinton Fire Department ambulance recently, get an up close look at firefighting equipment and learn important safety rules from firemen.

They also got to get in an ambulance and a fire truck. They were reminded of fire safety rules, like “stop, drop, and roll,” and “go low and go.” The students and staff of ICS thanked all those with the local Fire Department and EMS Squads that made their visit not only a fun day to remember, but also received a day full of very important life-saving lessons.
