Ida Rupp libraries feature MANHATTAN SHORT Film Fest, walking tours, nature hunt

The Marblehead Peninsula Branch of the Ida Rupp Libraries will feature a pair of local walking tours this week. The Erie Island Branch will offer Coloring and Coffee for adults as a stress reliever.

The Port Clinton Branch MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival is back at the library on Thursday, Sept. 23 and Tuesday, Sept. 28. Come watch the finalists and make your voice heard by voting for your favorite at the end of each showing.

The late September calendar for all locations of the Ida Rupp Public Library includes the following:

 

Thursday, Sept. 16

  • Baby Bookworms with Miss Chloe, Ida Rupp Public Library; 10:30 – 10:55 a.m.; Children. Little ones and their parents are invited to join Miss Chloe for a story time full of books, music, and toys.

Saturday, Sept. 18

  • Jamestown Historical Walking Tour, Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library; 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.; Adults. A historical walking tour through the Jamestown neighborhood of Marblehead.  The terrain is sidewalks and paved streets, will cover approximately one mile and last about an hour.   Registration is required.

Monday, Sept. 20

  • Sunflower Banner Take and Make, Ida Rupp Public Library; Adults. Enjoy the last days of summer with this bright sunflower craft. Perfect to display in your home for fall. Limit one per family, while supplies last.

Tuesday, Sept. 21

  • Tales for Tots with Miss Kristen, Ida Rupp Public Library; 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.; Children. Join Miss Kristen for stories, songs and playtime at the library.
  • Clemons Cemetery Walking Tour, Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library; 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.; Adults. Our new walking tour on the grounds of Clemons Cemetery (91 East Main St., Marblehead) will educate each participant about Clemons Cemetery. The terrain of the cemetery is unlevel grass, open to eight participants and registration is required.
  • Nature Scavenger Hunt, Erie Islands Library; 4 – 5 p.m.; Children. Join us for a “Nature Scavenger Hunt” at the entrance to Cooper’s Woods. Children may be picked up from the entrance of Cooper’s Woods between 4:30-5 pm.

Wednesday, Sept. 22

  • DIY Dinosaur Fossils, Ida Rupp Public Library; 3 – 4 p.m.; Teens. Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to come to the library to make a dinosaur fossil to take home.
  • Coloring and Coffee, Erie Islands Library; 1 – 2 p.m.; Adults. Adult coloring is a perfect stress release because they have intricate designs that challenge the fine motor skills and attention span of even the most detail-oriented adults.

Thursday, Sept. 23

  • Baby Bookworms with Miss Chloe, Ida Rupp Public Library; 10:30 – 10:55 a.m.; Children. Little ones and their parents are invited to join Miss Chloe for a story time full of books, music, and toys.
  • MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival, Ida Rupp Public Library; 5 – 8 p.m.; Adults. Come watch the finalists and make your voice heard by voting for your favorite at the end of each showing.
  • Movie Night: Avatar, Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library; 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.; Adults. Come to the library and watch Avatar.  We will provide popcorn and drinks.

Tuesday, Sept. 28

  • Tales for Tots with Miss Kristen, Ida Rupp Public Library; 10:30 – 11:30 am; Children. Join Miss Kristen for stories, songs and playtime at the library.
  • MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival, Ida Rupp Public Library; 2 – 5 p.m.; Adults. The second edition of the MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival is back. See Sept. 23 listing.
  • Euchre Club, Ida Rupp Public Library; 6 – 7:45 p.m.; Adults. Join us for fun evening of Euchre. New members are always welcome on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday each month.
  • Lego Club Resumes, Erie Islands Library; 5 – 6 p.m.; Children. We are excited to be able to hold Lego Club again in the library!  Come build a creation that will remain on display in the library for one week.

Thursday, Sept. 30

  • Baby Bookworms with Miss Chloe, Ida Rupp Public Library; 10:30 – 10:55 a.m.; Children. Little ones and their parents are invited to join Miss Chloe for a story time full of books, music, and toys.
  • Stuffed Animal Dissection and Taxidermy, Ida Rupp Public Library; 3-4 p.m.; Teens. Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to “dissect” a stuffed animal to display on a plaque to take home. Please bring your own stuffed animal. The library will provide all supplies, including a stuffed animal if needed.
