Ida Rupp Libraries spotlight shenanigans, leprechauns for St. Pat’s Day

When March rolls around, shenanigans and leprechauns creep into the vocabulary heading into St. Patrick’s Day on March 17, even folks who aren’t Irish. The Erie Islands Library help adults make a colorful “Button Shamrock” on Tuesday, March 10 at 5 p.m. and kids have some “After School Irish Shenanigans” on Tuesday, March 15 at 4 p.m. On Wednesday, March 16, it’s an adult party at 5 p.m. to create Terracotta Leprechauns at Ida Rupp Library at 5 p.m., so you’ll have your own lucky charm.

THURSDAY, MARCH 10

One-On-One Tech Help, Ida Rupp Public Library; 10 – 11 a.m. and 2 – 3 p.m.; Adults. Call 419-732-3212 to sign up for a 30-minute one-on-one Tech Help session. Participants required to wear mask.

Drive-In Movie, Ida Rupp Public Library; 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.; Children. Come decorate a cardboard box and turn it into a car! When the cars are ready, we’ll watch a short movie while enjoying some snacks! Open to ages 4 and under with caregiver.

Pulitzer Prize Book Club, Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library; 4 – 5 p.m; Adults. Have you ever read a Pulitzer Prize winning book? Read one and discuss it with a lively group! Discuss the winner from 1954, A Fable by William Faulkner.

Button Shamrock on Canvas, Erie Islands Library; 5 – 6 p.m.; Adults. Librarian Karen Wilhelm helps to make a colorful shamrock out of various shades of green buttons. Supplies provided. Limited to 10 adults and teens

FRIDAY, MARCH 11

Vineyard Book Discussion, Ida Rupp Public Library; 1 – 2 p.m.; Adults. Monthly book discussion group meets in the Community Room of The Vineyard On Catawba. March’s book is The Dutch House, by Ann Patchett.

Piggy Bank Painting, Ida Rupp Public Library; 6– 7 p.m. Children. Come paint a piggy bank with us! Choose from a cat, dog or train design. Then stick around for a St. Patrick’s day scavenger hunt!

Story Time for Toddlers, Erie Islands Library; 10 – 10:30 p.m.; Children. Librarian Karen Wilhelm for a half hour of reading, song and a craft to take home. Parents, caregivers stay with children.

TUESDAY, MARCH 15

Tales for Tots with Miss Kristen, Ida Rupp Public Library; 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.; Children. Join Miss Kristen for stories, songs and playtime.

Tuesday Morning Book Club, Ida Rupp Public Library; 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.; Adults. Join us at R Coffee Corner to discuss The Brilliant Life of Eudora Honeysett by Annie Lyons. Pick up the book at the public services desk.

After School Irish Shenanigans, Erie Islands Library; 4 – 4:45 p.m.; Children. Get ready for an exciting after school event featuring Irish activities. Make a shamrock bouquet and to participate in a treasure hunt with gold coins.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 16

Terracotta Leprechauns, Ida Rupp Public Library; 5 – 6:30 p.m.; Adults.Create a lucky charm with a Terracotta Leprechaun. We’ll be using hot glue guns. Space guaranteed for registered individuals.
