Ida Rupp Summer Challenges, M.O.M. events continue June 11-17

The Ida Rupp Libraries Summer Challenge and Meals on Madison (M.O.M) events continues through the end of July, including watch and listen to performers, make crafts together, and to discuss some terrific books. Ida Rupp Libraries invite all community members to join using the fun at any of these events.

There will be displays, crafts and more at each of the Ida Rupp Libraries locations in Port Clinton, Put-in-Bay and Marblehead. The theme for this year’s summer reading is Tails and Tales.

Participate, track your activity, and be eligible for the Ida Rupp Libraries Grand Drawing. The June 11-17 calendar for all locations of the Ida Rupp Public Library includes the following:

FRIDAY, JUNE 11

The Magic of Michael Mage, M.O.M, Downtown Port Clinton; 2-3 p.m.; Children. National award-winning Cleveland magician, Michael Mage is known as a comedian stuck in a magician’s shoes. Incorporating comedy and endless audience participation into his hilarious shows, Michael is able to develop his show based around the people in attendance.

SATURDAY, JUNE 12

Sidewalk Book Sale, Erie Islands Library; 10 a.m.-2 p.m. All ages. Erie Islands Library will have a Sidewalk Sale in front of the library. Stop by to pick up a few great selections.

MONDAY, JUNE 14

Walking Club, Erie Islands Library; 8:30-9:30 a.m.; Adults. Walking is one of the best activities for staying active.

Story Time on the Island, Erie Islands Library; 11 a.m.-noon. Children. Librarian Karen Wilhelm and the fairy tale “Jack in the Beanstalk” at the Lake Erie Islands Nature Center on Meecham Rd. near Put-in-Bay Rd. Kits available for children to grow their own beans at home.

Grab & Go Craft Kit for Adults – Summer Cross Stitch, Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library. Adults. The Grab & Go Craft Kit includes everything you need to make a summer themed cross stitch.

Grab & Go Craft Kit for Kids – Pets Week, Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library. Children. Pick up a craft kit that includes everything you need to make a cute yarn pet.

TUESDAY, JUNE 15

Birdhouse Craft, M.O.M., Downtown Port Clinton; 10:30-11:30 a.m. Adults. Paint and decorate your own little bird house. Bird house and all supplies provided.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16

Story Time with Miss Kristen, M.O.M, Downtown Port Clinton; 10-11 a.m. Children. Join Miss Kristen for some fun pet stories and a craft to bring home for your own cat or dog.

Pet Photo Contest, Ida Rupp Public Library, Children. Is your dog dynamite? Does your frog flip for flies? Do you have a cool cat or a hilarious horse? Enter them in our pet photo contest. Submit a photo of your precious pet to the circulation desk at the library or email it to kstewart@seolibraries.org to enter them in our photo contest. Voting open until June 30. The pet who receives the most votes will win a gift card to Pets Supplies Plus.

Walking Club, Erie Islands Library; 8:30-9:30 a.m. Adults. Walking is one of the best activities for staying active.  Walking with others increases your motivation.  Join the librarians of Erie Islands Library as we walk around downtown

Words & Wine Book Club, at Duff Vineyards hosted by Erie Islands Library; 5:30-6:30 p.m. Adults. Share a book you have read while enjoying a beverage of your own choosing.

THURSDAY, JUNE 17

Teen Carnival Games, M.O.M., Downtown Port Clinton; 1-2 p.m. Teens in grades 6-12 invited to play carnival games for the chance to win books and prizes!

Book Folding with Sue Hartman, via Zoom hosted by Erie Islands Library; 5:30-7 p.m. Adults. Before the Zoom meeting, stop by your library to pick up supplies (book 400-500 pages, mechanical pencil, ruler, instructions). You will need to sign up for this class ahead of time to participate in the Zoom meeting. Sue Hartman from Marblehead will demonstrate how to do book folding via Zoom.  This exciting craft is fun and easy to master the technique.  You’ll be able to create your own special book to display.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover, Marblehead Peninsula Branch Library; 4:30-6 p.m. Children. Kids and their adults visit the library for a quick craft activity and a special story time with one of their favorite stuffed animal. Once the story time is finished, the kids leave their stuffed animals behind at the library to enjoy a fun sleepover! The next morning the kids and their beloved stuffed animals are reunited at 10:30 a.m. for a yummy breakfast and slideshow of the animal adventures from the night before. Registration is required for this program.
