PORT CLINTON – Immaculate Conception School (ICS) invites the public to have a “roaring” good time and support the schools’ commitment to academically strong, faith-based education by attending its 37th Annual Auction. This year’s theme is “Roaring into 100 Years.” The auction will feature Roaring Twenties-themed events as the school celebrates its 100th birthday.

The ICS Annual Auction will be held on Saturday, April 5, at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., and the live auction will start at 7 p.m.

The event will feature two silent auctions and one live auction, with hundreds of items. Guests will enjoy music, dancing and 50/50 drawings and can compete in a Charleston contest and a costume contest.

“It is such a fun night,” said ICS Principal Margaret Drew. “Auction items come from all over the community. People are so generous.”

Auction items include everything from candles and gift cards to televisions and living room armchairs.

“Our silent auction is so big it fills the hallway,” said ICS Communications Director Jen Roberts.

The live auction will include bigger prizes and experience packages.

“My favorite is the Principal for the Day,” Drew said. “Parents bid so their child can be principal for the day. Kids have had movie days and parties. Pretty much anything goes, but they can’t cancel school.”

The fundraiser supports the school’s mission to provide a top-quality education to its students. In former years, the auction helped fund science lab upgrades, playground improvements, field trips and assemblies. One year, it helped pay the first year’s salary for the school’s Spanish teacher, giving all students the opportunity to learn Spanish.

The school’s families are grateful that ICS provides a strong education in a caring environment. Some families have been a part of ICS’s history for generations. Mary Kate Fulkert’s children are third generation ICS students.

“ICS is a longstanding family tradition in my family, with myself and my parents attending,” Fulkert said. “The small class sizes make it very tailored to each kid which is great. The teachers are great communicators, and Mrs. Trent is an angel as far as keeping things in order. Mrs. Drew is the kindest principal you could ask for.”

The school is accepting donations of auction prizes and looking for individuals and businesses wishing to be event sponsors.

Tickets cost $25 for a single and $40 for a couple. Tables of 8 cost $200. For more information, call the school at 419-734-3315 or visit https://www.facebook.com/events/987313646684200.
