FREMONT – Lt. Gov. Jon Husted visited Terra State Community College last week on a tour of Ohio education institutions and businesses for In-Demand Jobs Week, highlighting Terra’s utility construction installer certificate.

It is one of five in the country and the only one in Ohio.

“Ohio can’t expand high-speed internet unless we have a workforce available to install the infrastructure,” said Husted. “Terra State Community College’s utility construction installer certificate program helps students develop the skills to start a career in this rapidly expanding occupation as businesses aggressively attempt to hire more employees to serve their customers.’’

“We are grateful for the ongoing support from our community partners at Kenneth G. Myers Construction Co., the Power and Communication Contractors Association and the Wireless Infrastructure Association that make this a successful career path for our students,” said Terra State President Dr. Ron Schumacher.

After a brief discussion about the program’s curriculum and equipment, the Lt. Governor moved inside for a roundtable discussion about the importance of the program to Ohio’s 5G broadband workforce.
