Buying fingerlings is a convenient and low-cost way to stock your pond or lake with fish, or add to your current population. Fish orders will be accepted until Friday, May 6 by the Ottawa Soil and Water Conservation District. Fender’s Fish Hatchery will bring their tank truck, with aerator, on Thursday, May 19 from 1-2:30 p.m. to the SWCD office to distribute the fish orders.
This year, customers can order online at ottawaswcd.com. Individuals who order fish will be notified, reminding them of the pick-up time and date. Buyers will need to bring their own container, filled with pond water. A trash container (with a plastic trash liner) serves as an ideal container. A clean 5- to 10-gallon can is adequate for 100 fish.
