In March, Jeff and Shelley Morgan reopened the doors at The Victorian Inn Bed & Breakfast that have welcomed families and customers for decades. The expansive home was built as the residence of Henry Schweck in 1860 and most recently served as a bed and breakfast under the hospitable care of Anna Duez. Now, the Morgans are bringing an iconic Marblehead home into the next generation.

The Victorian Inn offers individual rooms and suites, each comfortably decorated in its own unique theme with distinctive features. Some are perfect for a couple’s getaway and others make a fun escape for families or friends. Among the options is the Commodore Perry Suite which features a queen bed and twin trundle beds.

“Fishermen love this room,” Shelley said.

The inn features two dog-friendly choices, and guests have the option of renting the entire home.

The Morgans invested a lot of effort into renovating the historic home before opening in the spring. They fine-detailed the inn with the comforts guests look for, like makeup towels, coffee nooks and bright lighting in the bathrooms.

“We added a lot of little touches,” Shelley said.

The Morgans fell in love with Ottawa County when they took their first boating venture here about 20 years ago. They eventually purchased a vacation home in the area and then decided to sell their Columbus home and move here fulltime. Shelley has 30 years of experience as a realtor, and Jeff is an IT executive at Civista Bank.

Before purchasing The Victorian Inn, the Morgans owned log cabin rentals in Gatlinburg. Now, they are bringing their passion for hospitality to Marblehead.

“We’ve been pretty much booked since opening in March,” Shelley said.

Their guests are not the only ones who are happy. Duez is, as well.

“She told me that it’s just what it needed,” Shelley said.

“I still wanted it to feel like grandma’s house but with modern conveniences,” Shelley said.

The Victorian Inn is located at 5622 E. Harbor Rd. in Marblehead. For more information, call 419-734-5611 or visit
