Joe passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly on Aug. 15 at his home in Lake Royale, Louisburg.
Joe was born in Detroit and was in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1972, with spending one year of that in South Korea. He was Firefighter and Fire Inspector. After coming home he spent the next 21 years in the Marina business on Lake Erie.
He met and married Jane, his wife of almost 46 years, and they were married on Aug. 20, 1977. After moving to North Carolina, they became real estate agents, with Joe in the business until his passing.
Joe is survived by his wife Jane, daughter Christina and her husband Ken Heimann. Colin Heimann, his oldest grandson, who serves in the USAF, Nevada. The youngest grandson Alex Heimann who is also in the USAF, stationed in Hawaii with his wife Amber and Ezra (great grandson). Also, Jeri (granddaughter) and John Creek, Angel, and Jordan (great granddaughters) of Clayton. Samantha (granddaughter) and Marco DeOchoa, and children, of Texas. Uncle Joe will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews who are in various parts of the US.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Clayton, and Florence Mansell. His brother Ron, and his wife Patsy. His sister Carolyn and her husband Ray Muncey.
Joe attended Grace Assembly in Wake Forest, and Jane knows they will be together again in Heaven with all their loved ones.
The funeral will be held at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh, on Aug. 22, with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with service following and at the gravesite at 2 p.m.
Family asks that any donations be made out to AmVets Post 201, which is in Bunn, North Carolina.
