John M. Cerbus, 62, of Port Clinton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 5, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

He was born on March 5, 1958 in Port Clinton, the son of the late John and Carolyn (Vincel) Cerbus, Jr. On May 29, 1987 in Port Clinton, he married Jodi Lynne Sandwisch and she survives.

John was a Tool and Die Maker by trade, having worked at Port Clinton Manufacturing and Right Tool and Die. He was also a former Reserve Police Officer for the City of Port Clinton as well as a Firefighter and EMT for the Port Clinton Fire Department.

In retirement he was the lighting director at Victory Church in Fremont, and The Chapel in Port Clinton. He started up the Talk of Port Clinton page on Facebook which has many followers. He was also an excellent cook and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Jodi; children, Lauren (Shawn) Weagley, Ariel Cerbus, Brandon Cerbus, and Andrew Cerbus; grandchildren, Jackson, Adrienne, and Elijah; granddogs, Hemi, Auggie and Cuda; as well as sisters, Cheryl Cerbus and Becky Cerbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at The Chapel, 4650 E. Port Clinton Eastern Road, Port Clinton, with an Open House from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., followed by the Celebration of Life Service at Noon.
