Director Jim Pry, of Site Performance Improvement at Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station presents a $5,000 First Energy Charitable Grant to Tami Matthews, Joyful Connections Executive Director; Patty Wildman, Joyful Connections Board Chair; and Mary Wilson, Human Resources Representative at Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Plant and Joyful Connections Board Member.

OAK HARBOR – The dream of an outdoor visitation space became a reality recently for visiting parties, children and staff of Joyful Connections. Because of the generosity of a $5000 Energy Harbor Charitable Grant, Joyful Connections was able to plan and implement the much requested space.

In addition to fencing, the grant enabled Joyful Connections to purchase landscape stone, an industrial picnic table, two Adirondack chairs, as well as an outdoor chair and desk for staff use. The new area also has a storage box, and numerous outside games and activities. Joyful Connections, Ottawa County’s resource for supervised visitations and exchanges between children and parents or guardians, provides a safe and secure environment for children to visit with non-residential family members.

Since 2008, Joyful Connections has been proud to provide a child-focused, healthy, safe, and home-like environment where children can interact with family members in a non-judgmental setting.
