Parents must sign up for Kindergarten Roundup registration for all future students on Friday, April 8, but they must first call the Danbury Elementary School (419-798-4081) between March 29-April 1 to set up an appointment.
Danbury Local Schools board policy is that a child must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1. to enter kindergarten. School officials will also need the child’s name, address, birth date and telephone numbers for home and a business where working parents can be reached. The appointment times for the 90-minute registration process on April 8 are 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 1 p.m.
Children will be screened in vision, language behaviors, hearing, motor development, perceptual assessment and social adjustment. Parents will have an opportunity to meet many of the service personnel who will be guiding their children through the educational program.
The child to be enrolled should preferably dress in comfortable clothes and tennis shoes. A parent must bring the child’s official birth certificate and the driver’s license of one of the parents listed on the birth certificate, and the child’s immunization records.
The child’s physical check-up may be done at any time before school starts. As soon as the physical exam is completed, send the form to the school.
Three proofs of residency are needed, such as a utility bill, current pay stub or tax documents, and court papers determining custody (if applicable). An address for busing where the child will be picked up and dropped off from school is needed if different from their home address, including the daycare providers name (if applicable, and only needed if the child does not currently attend preschool at Danbury Local Schools.
