Kirk Amidano, formerly of Port Clinton, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 22, in Denver, Colo. He was 64 years old, and a 1976 graduate of Port Clinton High School. He held a bachelor’s degree in Theater, and Kirk’s decades-long career spanned activities throughout the movie and theater communities, both in the United States and abroad. He was a model-maker at Industrial Light and Magic and provided numerous special effects for both movies and the stage. He is survived by his mother, Patricia (Bernie, dec.) Gates, his sister, Deb (Jim) Luchsinger, a nephew, 2 cousins, and countless friends. A graveside service is planned for later this year. Memorials may be made to Denver Center Performing Arts in Kirk’s name.
