Danbury and Oak Harbor girls’ basketball teams both grabbed Sectional Championships over the weekend. The Lakers beat Monroeville, 59-29, while Oak Harbor ground out a 28-22 win over Maumee.
The Lakers struggled early against Monroeville before figuring out a winning strategy for a dominant win. Maria Maringer led the Lakers with 20 points while Kamil Stephens contributed 10 points. Kelly Uhinck grabbed 10 rebounds in the victory.
The Lady Lakers upped their record to 19-4 with the win. They play tonight (Thursday, Feb. 23) against Mansfield Christian in the District semi-finals at Willard.
Oak Harbor led at halftime, 11-10, in a defensive struggle against Maumee but pulled out the victory by outscoring their opponents 17-12 in the second half. Camdyn Fauver led Oak Harbor with 11 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Karder Haas added 10 points for the Lady Rockets.
Oak Harbor now continues on to a District semi-final meeting with 21-2 Toledo Central Catholic.
