Lael J. Bergman, 86, of Port Clinton, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 26, at Ottawa County Riverview Senior Healthcare Campus in Oak Harbor. She was born on Jan. 10, 1935, in Lakeside, the daughter of the late Vern Mealey and Gladys Boltres.
Lael was a hard worker and enjoyed working on the family farm, as was evident by her learning how to drive a dump truck as well as a tractor. In her latter years, she could be found riding her golf cart visiting the neighbors and her family who lived close by. She also enjoyed going for car rides around the area, with her favorite being a trip through Lakeside. She loved life and looked forward to spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Larry Hodge and Linda Spellman, both of Port Clinton, Donell (Scott) Holzapfel, Columbus, Mike Bergman, Springfield, and Sandy (Ross) Wagner, Oak Harbor; grandchildren, Robert (Ericka) Hodge of Cypress, Texas, Jake (Raven) and Luke (Madison) Cramer, both of Port Clinton, Michala (Conner) and Breiann Bergman both of Vandalia; three great-grandchildren; sister, Janet (Bobby) Warner, Northville, Mich.; brother, Dennis (Man Yuen) Mealey, Pensacola, Fla.; as well as nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husbands, Robert Bergman and Don Hodge; and her son, Robert Hodge.
Per Lael’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Jan. 15, from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Bay Township Hall. Burial will take place at a later date in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made to Donor’s Choice.
