The Microcystis cyanobacteria bloom is present in western Lake Erie, but there has been a substantial reduction noted on Monday, Sept. 27 in the size of the cyanobacteria bloom due to strong winds last week, which also churned up sediment in the lake. Rains have led to a plume of sediment from the Maumee River into Maumee Bay. Toxins have been detected below the recreational limit.
