MARBLEHEAD – As summer is now getting into full swing in our Lake Erie area, so are great opportunities for family entertainment. On Saturday, June 13, the Lake Plains Barbershop Chorus will perform the “Let Freedom Sing” show at the Marblehead Lighthouse at 3 p.m. The concert is free, and all that is needed is an enthused audience. Guests are invited to bring their own lawn chairs and enjoy the fourth annual Lake Plains Barbershop show at the scenic lighthouse location.

The Lake Plains Chorus was originally formed in Fostoria in 1962, and the group initially sang traditional male barbershop style harmony. In recent years, they’ve transitioned into a mixed male and female chorus and have added a few more modern songs into their repertoire. This year’s show will be performed in celebration of 250 years of American spirit. It will include traditional patriotic songs and also upbeat tunes representing the diversity of different areas of our country.

The Marblehead Lighthouse is a perfect setting for this show with arguably the most picturesque views of Lake Erie in Ohio. The Marblehead Lighthouse holds the title of the oldest operating lighthouse on the Great Lakes and is full of rich history. The “Let Freedom Sing” Lake Plains Chorus show ties in very well with the lighthouse setting and mission.

The best part is, thanks to the Marblehead Lighthouse Society, it’s a free show. The lighthouse is located at Marblehead Lighthouse State Park, located at 110 Lighthouse Dr. in Marblehead.
