GENOA — Trailing by three points with three minutes to play, Danbury’s girls were very much alive in their contest with Genoa, but the Comets started to stall and forced the Lakers to foul. Ultimately, it was too much for Danbury to overcome, and the Lakers lost, 49-39.
Danbury led 22-20 at halftime.
Hannah Bradfield led the Comets (7-8) with 14 points and Caitlin Cruickshank chipped in with 11. Kayla Rodriguez had 12 points to lead the Lakers (3-9) and Annie Tibbels scored 10.
Huron 54, Danbury 33
A close game saw Huron pull away in the second half as the Tigers defeated Danbury, 54-33, in non-conference action.
Rae Roldan led all scorers with 15 points and Ava Winnestaffer scored 14. Annie Tibbels had 14 points to lead the Lakers and Grace Hollenbeck scored 10.
