The Danbury Lakers jumped on top early but suffered through bad second and third quarters as visiting Holgate scored all of their points in those quarters on the way to handing the Lakers a 44-26 loss at Biro Field.

Offensively, the Lakers had a pretty good game as Jacob Mischler went 8 for 20 passing for 176 yards. Six of Mischler’s completions went to Guy Maltese for 148 yards. Meanwhile, running back Elijah Hatfield had a strong game with 142 yards on just 11 carries.

The Lakers scored first and led 6-0 after the first quarter. Holgate came back with 16 points in the second quarter and outscored the Lakers in the third quarter, 28-14, to lead 44-20 going into the fourth quarter.

On Friday night Coach Keith Mora’s Lakers hit the road to play Toledo Christian.
