Lakers lose to top-seeded Lucas

SHELBY — Lucas and Danbury were tied after the first quarter before the Cubs went on a tear in the middle two quarters in their 80-31 victory over the Lakers.

The teams played to a 12-12 tie after one quarter before Lucas (23-1) outscored Danbury 60-15 in the middle two quarters to take a 72-27 lead into the fourth.

Riley Gossum had a game-high 30 points to lead the Cubs and Tyler Murray scored 15 points for the Lakers.
