The Danbury Lakers boys varsity basketball team has a record of 3-20 overall. In the Sandusky Bay-River Conference, they are 2-16, ninth in the standings and ranked 779 in Ohio.

The Danbury Lakers boys basketball team was on the road on Friday, Feb. 21 for a Division VII Shelby District tournament game against the Plymouth Big Red who are 12-11 overall. Plymouth is in fifth place in the Firelands Conference with a record of 7-7 and is ranked 651 in Ohio. Plymouth was victorious, 58-32. Plymouth held the lead 19-11 in the first quarter and by the half, they led 34-18.

With this victory, Plymouth now has their first sectional title since the 2014-2015 season when they won 25 games and secured a district championship. Scoring for Danbury was Frankie Kovachs with 17 points. Tyler Harris added 12 points.

The Danbury Lady Lakers varsity basketball team was on the road and defeated the South Central Trojans 56-10 on Saturday, Feb. 15 in a Division VII tournament game. The top-seeded Danbury held a commanding lead of 29-0 in the first quarter. The leading scorer for Danbury was Mia McDonald with 17 points and nine rebounds. Maci Brown scored nine points, and she had seven rebounds and seven assists.

The Lady Lakers played the third-seeded Lucas Cubs on Thursday, Feb. 20 in a district semifinal game at Shelby High School. The Lucas Cubs have a record of 14-9 overall and are in second place in the Mid-Buckeye Conference. Danbury won 65-27 and will now move on to play for the district championship against the second-seeded Seneca East Tigers, who are 16-7 overall and fourth in the Northern 10 Basketball Conference with a record of 8-5. They are ranked 276 in Ohio.

Danbury led Lucas 16-13 at the end of the first quarter and opened up a 28-15 lead in the second quarter. Lucas got back on the scoreboard but Danbury held a commanding 40-18 lead at the half. Danbury forced 19 turnovers in the first half and 12 in the second quarter. Danbury would end the game with a total of 26 forced turnovers. Maci Brown scored 10 points and had ten rebounds and six assists for Danbury. Katelynne Bergman scored 11 points for Danbury and Thea Brickner added 10 points. The Lady Lakers are 21-3 overall. They are in second place in the Sandusky Bay-River Conference with a 16-2 record and are ranked 257 in Ohio.
