The Lakeside Symphony Orchestra (LSO), established in 1963, is one of Lakeside’s most cherished traditions. Bringing classical music to guests of all ages, the orchestra will perform six evening concerts and two youth matinees during the 2019 season.
Lakeside Chautauqua and the LSO are excited to welcome Daniel Meyer as the new Music Director & Conductor. A native of Cleveland and current resident of Pittsburgh, Meyer studied conducting at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar. He’s a graduate of Denison University and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Wednesday, July 31 : Opening Concert with Violinist Jinjoo Cho, 8:15 p.m.
The LSO’s Opening Concert features Antonín Dvorak’s “Violin Concerto” with violinist Jinjoo Cho and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s “Symphony No. 4.” A native of Seoul, South Korea, Cho moved to Cleveland at the age of 14 to study at the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM).
Thursday, Aug. 1: Youth Concert: Meet the Orchestra at 2 p.m.
This new event is the perfect family experience to introduce children of all ages to the LSO in concert. Learn about the instruments, their families and how they all work together to make amazing music.
Saturday, Aug. 3: Concert with Verb Ballets at 8:15 p.m.
The LSO, Verb Ballets’ Associate Artistic Director, Richard Dickinson, and the company will feature a new piece choreographed to Felix Mendelssohn’s “‘Italian Symphony No. 4.” The program continues with scenes from Georges Bizet’s beloved opera, “Carmen.”

Friday, Aug. 16: Closing Night Concert with Pianist Angelin Chang at 8:15 p.m.
