Stacy Maple is a chef who is noted for creating fine food, and this year she and her husband, Criss, will make sure youngsters are hydrated and happy, as well, at Lakeview Park, the popular recreation area in Port Clinton adjacent to the Port Clinton Beach.

“We have opened Lakeview Concession Stand for the summer, and are offering a nice range of water, soda and sports drinks, as well as hot dogs, Doritos, chips and peanuts for hungry kids and their parents,” said Maple, Director of Culinary Services for Lakeside Chautauqua and Chef Consultant for Bistro 163.

“We feature Toft’s Ice Cream in pints, an upside-down ice cream cone, PUB cups and novelties, like a special Doggie Ice Cream for our four-legged visitors,” she said. “The beach gear we offer is perfect for visitors who would like to stroll over to the Lake Erie beach, especially our new Beach Chair with wheels a person with limited access can reserve to tour the beach.”

The Lakeview Concession Stand is open 7 days a week from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., weather permitting, through the Labor Day holiday.

Lakeview Park is the top recreation area in the area, with slides, a jungle gym and other kid-friendly play stations, as well as a basketball court for the older kids.

The park is a short walk across Perry Street from the Lake Erie Beach, with the Lakeview Concession area providing parking for beachgoers. Lakeview Park offers areas for family picnics, with barbecue grills and picnic benches, and is American Disabilities Act friendly. City crews have been working all spring to make sure the playgrounds were ready, and the full service bathrooms at Lakeview Park were sanitized and very clean.

The restrooms, a gift from the Friends of Port Clinton Parks, a non-profit organization that raises money to make improvements to Port Clinton city parks, are cleaned every day, including the weekends.
