Lawrence (Larry) Hamann, Jr. formally of Port Clinton passed away at his home in Leesburg, Fla. on Dec. 10 of cancer. He was born Aug. 7, 1949 in Port Clinton to Lawrence R Hamann Sr. and Dorismae (Cupp) Hamann.

Larry graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1968; served in the US Navy on Submarines and received his Biomedical Training through the Navy; and Port Clinton City Councilman and President of Council. Memberships in Port Clinton American Legion and Bingo Chairman; Port Clinton Lions past President; and the Leesburg Moose Lodge and Moose Legion (District President) in Leesburg, Florida. He worked at H.B. Magruder Hospital as Biomedical and Engineering Department Head and Fremont Memorial Hospital. His greatest joy was his family, politics and helping others. He is being missed by family and many good friends.

He is survived by his wife Mary (Kennedy) Hamann; a daughter Beth (Bob) Branch of Ashville; son, Beau (Erin) Hamann of Holland; two step-sons Daniel and Aaron Orosco, both of Port Clinton; and 9 grandchildren. Two brothers, John (Marilyn) Hamann and Tim Hamann and several nieces and nephews, and ex-wife Donna (Dorrell) Hamann also survive. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son David and a brother William. Graveside services will be held later in Port Clinton.
