The Lenten Season is a special time for those living along the shoreline of Western Lake Erie who appreciate a flavorful dinner of gently fried yellow perch. Fish fries are featured every Friday night all around the region during Lent, and one of the most popular perch hot spots will be Denny Bergeman Hall at the Knights of Columbus facility on Perry Street in downtown Port Clinton.
The dinners begin this Friday, Feb. 28, and will run through April 10, leading to a celebration of Easter at churches in town on Sunday, April 12.
The K of C dinners and sandwiches are served from 4-7 p.m. The yellow perch is hand-breaded, and comes with French fries, coleslaw, mac and cheese, dessert and beverages. For more information, visit kofc1750.org.
The K of C in Port Clinton will begin hosting its Sunday Pancake Breakfast on March 15 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The pancake breakfasts will also be featured on April 26 and May 17, and include scrambled eggs and a beverage.
All of the proceeds of the yellow perch fries and the pancake breakfasts will go to local charities.
