Leo C. Kimmet, 97, of Catawba Island and formerly of Erie Township passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. He was born September 3, 1928 in Tiffin, OH the son of Louis and Gladys (Barrick) Kimmet. He married Ruth M. Schwartz on May 9, 1953. Leo worked at Standard Products for 25 years. After retiring, Leo opened a small engine repair shop at his Erie Township home before eventually moving to The Vineyard on Catawba Island. Leo was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton. He was a member of the Erie Township Vol Fire Dept. and E.M.S for 25 years and a 60-year member of the Knights of Columbus. Leo and Ruth spent 32 years wintering in Florida in the Fort Myers area, first with an RV and later purchasing a home in Estero, FL.

Surviving his wife: Ruth; son: Kevin Lee (Jill) Kimmet of Port Clinton; daughter: Karen (Richard) Atkins of Fernandina Beach, FL; granddaughter: Ashley Kimmet of Sandusky; grandsons: Christopher Atkins, San Antonio, TX, Nicholas Atkins, Kuwait, Benjamin Atkins, Savannah, GA.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Jonathon Wight 10:00 am Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison St. Port Clinton, OH 43452. Immediately following the Mass a luncheon will be served at The Vineyard, West Catawba Rd. Port Clinton, OH. Mr. Kimmet has generously donated his body to the University of Toledo, College of Medicine. Following their studies, his body will be cremated and burial will take place at Catawba Island Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Erie Township Vol. Fire Department, 5585 W. Harbor Rd. Port Clinton, OH 43452.
