Local basketball in full swing

The Port Clinton Redskins Girls Varsity Basketball team defeated the Edison Chargers 59-38 on Jan. 5. Port Clinton is on a hot streak, winning five in a row and six of their last seven games. At halftime, Port Clinton had opened up a 30-8 lead. For Edison, Ivy Kluding scored 12 points and had 7 rebounds while Jorja Byington had 9 points and 10 rebounds.

The Vermilion Sailors Girls Varsity Basketball team was victorious against the Huron Tigers 45-35 on Jan. 5. This was Vermilion’s first win of the season in the Sandusky Bay – Bay Conference. Abi Rhoades for Vermilion led scoring with a career-high 19 points. Claire Bartlome would add 12 points for Vermilion as well. For Huron, it was Jessica Brown scoring 16 points. Huron is 3-7 overall and 0-4 in conference games. Vermilion is 4-7 overall and 1-2 in conference action.
