The Ottawa, Sandusky and Seneca Solid Waste Management District has awarded grants to local governments, educational institutions and non-profit organizations for solid waste programs.
Included on the list is $7,135 to improve three Port Clinton facilities with new environmentally friendly benches. The project would provide seven recycled plastic picnic benches at Lakeview Park, Waterworks Park and West End Park.
The OSS Competitive Funding Grants are awarded in January and June. January’s group of winners also included:
- The Sandusky County Park District — $6,601 for a project at White Star beach to assist ADA requirements in the form of a recycled plastic mobility mat to enable wheelchair accessibility.
- The Village of Gibsonburg — $3,671 to provide five recycled plastic slat designed receptacles.
- Krout Elementary School in Tiffin — $7,505 to construct an outdoor learning area with a handicap accessible table.
- The City of Fremont — $10,000 to offset the costs for the yard waste recycle program.
