Loretta Jean Dietz, “Happy,” passed away peacefully at 89 in the comfort of her own home on Catawba Tuesday night surrounded by loved ones.
She and her beloved Otto Carl Dietz were married for 31 years and blessed with children Margie Samosky, Susan (Gary) Armstrong, and Debbie (Conrad) Wos. Grandkids: Rick, Rod (Jen), Amber (Tommie), and Jessica (Joe). GG of Claire, Sam, Ruby, Rae, Hattie and Bryson.
Happy was the daughter of Anne and Lawrence Saumers, survived sister Nancy (late Charles) Bowman and brother Dannie (deceased). Aunt and friend to many. Loving partner to Donald Given (deceased).
After graduating Parma High School, where she was quoted “The will of the woman is her happiness,” she worked for the Colonnade Group in Cleveland. Happy celebrated and lived life large. She was the center of the family and will be remembered in having an open heart and an open home to gather, dance, sing, eat and enjoy lake living.
Family and friends celebrated her life on Sunday, Nov. 7, at the Port Clinton Elks Lodge, 231 Buckeye Blvd, Port Clinton, OH 43452. Memorial and celebration followed. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Elks Ladies.
